Edged Girls

by AYESHA SHAIK KHAJA MOHIDIN

They do not speak but they smoke
Wreaths of cannabis haloing their joke
They lie and cheat at cards
And yet they do not cry in the dark
They walk the extra mile
And their nails they file

Do not think they cannot burn
For their edges make for icy urns
Fault lines in their eyes
Making you think twice
Autumn in their hair and on their lips
Halloween candy given as tips
